TEMPORARY RESEARCH POSITION IN THEATRICAL DESIGN

The Department of Theater and Dance invites applications for Associate Specialist(s) in Lighting Design. Temporary appointment positions are variable in terms of percentage of time and will range from one month to one year during the department’s theatrical production season, followed by a break in service, with the possibility of reappointment the following production season, dependent upon performance and departmental needs. This position will conduct research associated with 1-6 productions with considerable independent input into the planning and execution in the field of lighting design, in collaboration with faculty members in Theater and Dance, guest artists, and the professional dance company in residence, Santa Barbara Dance Theater.

Applicant should possess an MFA degree or equivalent professional experience demonstrating expertise in lighting design. Five to ten years of experience working as a professional lighting designer is preferred. Demonstrated ability to create excellent lighting designs for both dance and theater performances required. The department is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research and service.
