Temporary Teaching Positions in Dance Available

POSITION OVERVIEW

Position title: Lecturer

Percent time: Temporary appointment positions are variable in terms of percentage of time.
Anticipated start: The department is currently recruiting for winter, spring and summer of the 2021-22 academic year and fall and winter of 2022-2023.
Position duration: One academic quarter with the possibility of reappointment that is dependent upon performance and departmental needs.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Department of Theater and Dance invites applications for temporary teaching positions in the following dance areas of specialization: Technique (ballet, modern, street dance, flamenco, gaga, hip hop and/or jazz), Music for Dance, Embodied Anatomy, Choreography/Improvisation.

Work will be in person on the UCSB campus; compensation will not include travel and housing expenses. Information about the UCSB Department of Theater and Dance is available through the Department’s web page: http://www.theaterdance.ucsb.edu/

The Department is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research, teaching and service. Salary is based on UC’s salary scales and depends on qualifications.

QUALIFICATIONS

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Applicants must possess an MFA degree in Dance or related field, or 5 years equivalent professional experience in Dance, or related field that is relevant to the teaching specialization they are applying for, at time of application.

Preferred qualifications

Teaching experience at the college or university level.
