Ángel Miguel López is a Chicano hailing from South Central Los Angeles who brings a raw, real and thought-provoking energy into every space and production they join. Having starred in works such as Letters from Cuba, Jesus Hopped the ‘A’ Train and The Last Days of Judas Iscariot, Angel’s work continuously strives to push the boundaries between reality and the stage, all while giving light and voice to Black and Brown communities that have long been oppressed.

Ángel trained at the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) for his MFA in Acting under Mirjana Jokovich and Marissa Chibas. Prior to his MFA, he received a dual B.A in Theatre and History from UC San Diego under the guidance of Robert Castro, Jade Power-Sotomayor and Luis Alvarez. Upon graduation, he was awarded the 2021 Jorge Huerta Spirit Award in Theatre and served as a Research Assistant for Dr. Jorge Huerta in the summer of 2025. His current research focuses on the intersection of Black and Chicano theatre and how we are able to deconstruct the Eurocentric chokehold on the American theatre.
Ángel was a Theatre Education Specialist for the Los Angeles Unified School District and prior to that, an English/Ethnic Studies Classroom teacher for the San Diego Unified School District. He currently serves as the Director of Teatro for the Los Angeles Poet Society and Associate Artistic Director with Crezca Teatro (A branch of the Santa Clarita Shakespeare Festival). Ángel is excited to continue his journey of bringing authentic and passionate representation to the stage, to the page, to the screen and beyond.
